As the Record to Account Lead at SGN you will have responsibility for overseeing the Management Accounting, Treasury & General Finance teams to ensure they are providing accurate and timely financial accounting & reporting. The Record to Account Lead is a critical link in the financial reporting chain, ensuring that financial data is accurately recorded, processed, and reported, ultimately contributing to informed decision-making within the organisation.

How you’ll support us on our mission to keep people safe and warm…
- Providing the Finance Delivery Lead with assurance on the seamless running within Management Accounting, Treasury & General Finance
- Supporting the Management Accountant Lead, Treasury Accountant & General Finance Analyst Lead to drive operational, continuous improvement, business objectives and strategic initiatives
- Developing, implementing, improving, and enforcing budgets, policies, and department controls to increase accuracy and efficiency
- Building and maintaining relationships with employees and the wider business
- Maintaining strong relationships with Finance Business Partners to answer business queries
- Overseeing timely and accurate month-end and year-end close and ensuring compliance to standards
- Overseeing accurate balance sheet reconciliations, journals, PABs and audit trails
- Collaborating and liaising with key stakeholders throughout the forecasting and budgeting process
- Overseeing headcount analysis and overhead allocation to report to wider business
- Commitment to ethical behaviour with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation
- Promoting a culture of data integrity - ensure accurate and complete employee, financial and supplier records
- Custodial of all reporting from the team
What you’ll need
- Proven experience in Record to Account, including knowledge of best practices, enabling technologies and a strong understanding of accounting principles
- Educated to degree level and hold an Accounting Qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA, ICAS)
- Leadership & people management skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial and financial awareness as managing forecasts and budgets is a key part of the role
- The ability to make important decisions and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and conflicting deadlines
We would prefer if you had relevant industry experience. However, if you don’t have all the qualifications, but think you have other applicable experience that would make you a good fit for the role, we would still love to hear from you.
