Research & Insight Officer - Health Determinants Research Collaboration

Location: Leicester, LE3 8RA (Hybrid Worker, 1-2 days per week in County Hall)

Salary: £31,074 - £37,950 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to support the development of their Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC), which will help address health inequalities through building research evidence around the wider determinants of health. The Leicestershire HDRC is a National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded research team led collaboratively by the County Council alongside partners from local universities.

They are looking for a Research & Insight Officer to help them develop their research infrastructure, capability and capacity to enable them to understand and tackle the wider determinants of health. You will join a team that will work to achieve their project milestones over their 5-year plan, with the goal of reducing health inequalities.

You will support activity across each of their six pillars of culture change; Public and Community Involvement, Engagement and Participation, Data, Governance, and Infrastructure, Research Training and Skills Development, Collaboration with anchor institutions, Monitoring, evaluation and improvement, and Knowledge Mobilisation.

Skills and Qualifications

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Be educated to degree level in a relevant subject or have an equivalent level of relevant experience.
  • Have experience of planning, developing and implementing research and insight projects and advising managers and colleagues on a range of research or business intelligence issues.
  • Have knowledge of research within public health / wider determinants of health
  • Have knowledge of research methodologies and models, approaches, techniques, critiques and methods relevant to the wider determinants of health.
  • Have skills in research and analysing/interpreting data, deriving meaning and presenting it effectively.
  • Understand the complexities and challenges of working with partners.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with staff at all levels.
