Retail Manager - The Guardian : Job Details

As our retail manager at Lyme, you'll play an important part in helping people enjoy their day. You will be generating crucial funds for The National Trust to invest in protecting and caring for places so people and nature can thrive. In return we'll give you the support and tools you need to build your career.

HOURS: Working 37.5 hrs per week including weekends & Bank Holidays.

SALARY: £27,000 per annum.

DURATION: Permanent.

INTERVIEW: 27th February 2025.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to the area manager you will lead a team of 8 people, including a team leader, retail assistants & retail volunteers. You will play an active part in the property leadership team at Lyme & work closely with the General Manager & wider leadership team.

What you'll be doing

Your focus every day will be on your customers: going out of your way to make sure they’re having their best possible day. You'll lead your team from the front, encouraging them to speak to people and listen to what they want. And also to inspire them, so that everyone who buys something knows just what a difference their contribution, however small, will make to the work of the Trust in protecting nature, beauty and history.  You'll set stretching targets for the team, and work together to achieve these through the highest standards of customer service and presentation of retail products and you'll provide feedback to the central retail team.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you, if you’re:

• an experienced retail manager, familiar with standard processes (including selling, merchandising, space management, stock control, risk)
• skilled in coaching, developing and leading teams 
• experienced in managing rotas and recruiting staff
• adept at getting maximum sales out of a retail outlet
