Job Description :

Our client, Gwent Police are seeking a dedicated and driven individual to join their team as a Risk and Governance Supervisor. In this permanent, full-time role based in Cwmbran, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, auditability, and timeliness of internal governance arrangements.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. UNFORTUNATELY ANYTHING LESS THAN THIS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED OR CONTACTED.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay up to date with local and national changes that could impact internal policies, and communicate these updates to key stakeholders.
  • Drive improvement in organisational policy compliance, ensuring policies are kept up to date and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Provide an Environmental Scanning service to support decision-making by senior officers and enhance the strategic planning process.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to predict and mitigate potential risks, and present relevant information to force boards.
  • Maintain the strategic risk strategy, policy, and organisational risk documentation.
  • Act as the force representative regarding Risk at internal and external meetings and networks.
  • Prepare requests for force risk audits, meet with auditors, and respond to audit reports.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including members of the public when required.
  • Manage the continued professional development of your team, allocate work, and monitor performance.

Requirements:

  • Qualified to HND level (or equivalent) in a Business-related subject.
  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative research techniques, including web-based research.
  • Proficiency in producing reports and documents using Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong experience working with strategic stakeholders and senior management to deliver organisational objectives.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload.
  • Previous supervisory experience is essential.
  • Detailed knowledge of policy development and review, organisational risk management, horizon/environmental scanning, and governance and performance management.
  • Familiarity with corporate governance issues affecting large organisations and the Police Service.
  • Level 2 Welsh language proficiency (training will be given), with Level 3 and above being desirable.
