The Sanctions Officer will be responsible for managing international sanctions risks within the UK business, ensuring adherence to both national and international sanctions regulations and laws, and safeguarding the organization's reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offers advisory opinions to the UK business regarding escalated international sanctions risks, ensuring compliance with the international sanctions Group Policies and Guidelines.
- Brings any matters needing senior review, potential breaches, or those requiring reporting to relevant authorities to the attention of the UK Branch CCO, MLRO, and the Head of Anti-Financial Crime.
- Guides the UK business on accurately interpreting the international sanctions Group Policies and Guidelines.
- Tracks changes in international sanctions and informs the UK business about how these changes may affect their operations, offering relevant advice.
- Conducts risk assessments and second-level controls for the UK business, adhering to Group-level methodologies and standards.
- Acts as a key stakeholder in UK strategic projects with international sanctions implications, providing advisory support and ensuring alignment with Group Policies and Guidelines.
- Collaborates with the UK business on the progress of internal and external audits, as well as inspections.
- Oversees the development and adaptation of local policies and procedures for dissemination within the UK business.
- Delivers quarterly summary reports to the Head of AFC and UK Branch committees, highlighting significant risks and the actions taken to mitigate them.
- Provides periodic updates to the CCO, Head of AFC, and Group functions on Business As Usual (BAU) operations.
- Conducts regular training sessions for employees on international sanctions law, regulations, and relevant internal policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Key Requirements:
- 7 + years experience working within financial crime or sanctions in the insurance market.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail.
