Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented School Administrator to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring student attendance records are maintained accurately and in compliance with Department of Education guidelines. You will also be a welcoming presence for students and provide excellent customer service to staff, parents, and visitors. This is a key position within the school, requiring strong organisational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the attendance system in the morning and afternoon to ensure compliance with Department of Education requirements.
- Check class registers regularly, especially for students needing frequent monitoring.
- Work with the team to locate missing students and update the Upper School Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead accordingly.
- Liaise with the Health Centre regarding student absentees.
- Report unplanned absences and other attendance concerns daily for students being monitored.
- Respond to parent emails about absences and early dismissal requests.
- Verify the authenticity of parent/guardian requests for student absences.
- Update late attendance and absentee records from the previous day.
- Organise and coordinate detention arrangements.
- Manage and update the Learning Management System (LMS) with details on field trips and planned absences.
- File Planned Absence Forms (PAF) appropriately in the attendance system.
Data Compilation:
- Run daily attendance reports and send resolution emails to parents and students as needed.
- Prepare a weekly report on student attendance below 90%, including explanations for the absences.
Other Responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for students.
- Serve as the first point of contact for students seeking assistance.
- Uphold the school's professional image by delivering excellent customer service to students, staff, parents, and visitors.
- Ensure all safeguarding protocols are followed, including appropriate child protection screening for applicants.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a school administration or attendance-related role is preferred.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi task and prioritise.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and attendance tracking software is desirable.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Willingness to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
