The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated School Operations Manager to join our leadership team. The successful candidate will lead and manage the school’s operational, administrative, HR, and business management functions, enabling the Headteacher and other school leaders to focus on the core purpose of pupil education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Management: Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce workload, and optimize resource use.
  • Administrative Leadership: Ensure the smooth running of the school office, manage administrative systems, and maintain a professional and welcoming environment for visitors.
  • HR and Staff Management: Oversee recruitment, performance management, and professional development of staff. Ensure compliance with HR policies and support staff effectively.
  • Financial Management: Oversee payroll and support with providing data for budgets. 
  • Resource Management: Oversee the management of school resources, including IT systems, service contracts, and premises maintenance.
  • Compliance and Safeguarding: Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, manage the single central record, and oversee DBS checks.

Job Context

  • Reports to the Headteacher.
  • Works closely with Trust Leaders in HR, governance, operations, business, premises, and finance.
  • Line management responsibility for key support staff.
  • May be required to attend Local Governor Body meetings in the evenings.

About You

  • Proven experience in operational and administrative management, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school and Trust leaders.
  • Commitment to the school’s vision and values.
