We are urgently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. This rare opportunity has arisen in a setting that caters to young people with complex needs, and such openings are seldom available at our school. This role is crucial in supporting our Key Stage 4 learners, who typically benefit from an Education Health Care Plan. Our school offers a nurturing environment for up to 32 young people, helping them to achieve their potential through personalised educational pathways.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist in the delivery of educational content across a range of subjects including GCSEs in English Language, Mathematics, Science, Biology, Business, and NCFE Employability, Relationships & Health, Creative Craft or Sport.
- Support the implementation of non-examined subjects like Zones of Regulation and Preparation for Adulthood to aid the holistic development of learners.
- Work closely with the teaching staff to tailor support based on the individual needs of each child, fostering a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
- Help engage learners with additional options from other provisions such as construction, food technology, equine studies, and more, to enhance their practical skills and knowledge.
- Utilise and support the teaching strategies that include emotion coaching and zones of regulation to help learners connect with and regulate their emotions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN setting.
- Understanding of the educational needs of young people with complex needs supported by an Education Health Care Plan.
- Ability to assist in delivering a diverse curriculum that includes both academic and vocational subjects.
- Strong understanding of the strategies needed to support children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff, students, and parents.
- Team Teach training is preferred but not essential.
