Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Reed Education are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our School in Woking. We provide a therapeutic and child-centred education for pupils aged 11 to 17 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), as well as other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our goal is to secure outstanding outcomes for all our students through a closely triangulated approach involving education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, and local authority teams.

Day to day of the role:
  • Supporting teachers in the classroom and working with children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
  • Managing classroom resources and contributing to the creation of a stimulating learning environment.
  • Accompanying children on trips and visits and engaging in social activities such as having lunch with children who struggle socially.
  • Addressing heightened behaviours, ensuring children’s safety, and providing a consistent, flexible, and non-judgemental approach.
  • Participating in therapy sessions, reflecting on challenging periods, and celebrating student success.
  • Contributing to decision-making processes that drive the school’s success and advocating for every child’s needs.

  • Ability to support a diverse range of students with SEMH and SEND.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
