We are seeking an experienced SENDCo to join our dedicated team at a leading educational institution in Eltham. This non-teaching role offers an opportunity to significantly contribute to the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision, ensuring the best possible support for our students.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee the strategic development of SEN policy and provision within the school.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the SEN policy and coordinate specific provisions to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability.
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues, fostering strong collaborations with staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Monitor and review the quality of SEN provisions through agreed methodologies.
- Oversee all Annual Reviews and transition/destinations reports.
- Contribute to school self-evaluation, particularly concerning provision for pupils with SEN or a disability.
- Collaborate with early years providers, other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals.
- Uphold the school’s policies on safeguarding and promote the welfare of children and young people.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment (as required under the SEND Code of Practice).
- QTS, PGCE, or equivalent qualification is essential.
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience.
- Proven involvement in self-evaluation and development planning.
- Experience in conducting training or leading INSET sessions.
