Job Advert: Humanities Teacher (Maternity Cover)
We are seeking a dedicated Humanities Teacher to cover maternity leave starting in June. The position is part-time, Monday to Thursday, primarily teaching KS3 lessons. The ideal candidate does not need to know the subjects to GCSE level, as there will be no exams for these subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective humanities lessons to KS3 students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support students in their academic and personal development.
- Collaborate with colleagues and home schools to ensure continuity of education.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching humanities subjects at the secondary level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the vision and aims of Birchwood.
About Us
We alternative education provision located in Folkestone, covering the Folkestone & Hythe District (South Kent). We accept pupils from Year 7 through to Year 11, with placements ranging from 2 weeks to the duration of their secondary education. We support Year 11 pupils in their transition to suitable post-16 destinations and ensure they undertake external examinations/qualifications. We work closely with home schools to ensure continuity of education and accommodate pupils requiring education on the 6th day of their exclusion from local schools.
