Reeson Education is excited to be recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a thriving special educational needs school in Greater Manchester. This long-term role, running until at least summer next year, offers the opportunity to work with a diverse group of pupils from Upper Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4, each with unique and often complex educational needs.

SEN Teacher Key Details

  • You will be teaching pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, often combined with learning or communication challenges.
  • Pupils are working below their expected age range and often need creative approaches to reach their academic and personal potential.
  • The school has a thriving programme which supports pupils who have struggled with mainstream education, offering a range of interventions including therapeutic play, art therapy, and counselling, all designed to support their growth beyond traditional learning.
  • You'll have the opportunity to work with pupils who are progressing through both academic and vocational pathways, including subjects like hair and beauty, bike maintenance, and music production, to help them build skills for post-16 education or training.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teacher

  • Deliver and manage lessons across a broad range of subjects, ensuring they are adapted to suit the individual needs of each pupil.
  • Support pupils working at various levels, with a focus on personal development and overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Work collaboratively with the school's specialist team, which provides personalised tutoring and vocational training tailored to students' unique needs and career aspirations.
  • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment where pupils can develop confidence, independence, and resilience.
