SEN Primary Teacher

Join our innovative team dedicated to providing education and care for children, young people, and adults with special educational needs and disabilities. We are seeking an experienced SEN Primary Teacher in Leyland, near Preston. This role involves delivering a high-quality, play-based informal KS1 curriculum to Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils in small classes.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the class and assisting in the overall operation of the school.
  • Assess, record, and report on pupils' progress in accordance with school policies to monitor and foster development across all learning areas.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils, adhering to the school's safeguarding policies.
  • Lead, support, and supervise sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, including conducting Professional Development Reviews.
  • Attend and contribute to teachers' meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings, and other relevant staff meetings.
  • Ensure a high standard of personal care for pupils, monitoring their health and well-being, and liaising with care staff, medical staff, behaviour support teams, and other professionals as necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification, with evidence of in-service training.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, with completion of ECT.
  • Experience and knowledge in working with students with complex needs and SEND.
  • Strong understanding of the Early Years and KS1 curriculum.
  • Knowledge and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and their impact on learning.
