The Role :

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work at a welcoming SEN School based in Cambridge. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide crucial support in the classroom and help students with their personal care needs. You will provide one-on-one and small group support to students with a variety of SEN, ensuring their learning needs are met. You will also encourage independence and promote self-care routines where appropriate.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in an educational or care setting (SEN experience is highly desirable)
  • Experience providing personal care and assisting with physical or medical needs (such as mobility support, feeding, or toileting)
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them to thrive
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm approach, particularly when dealing with sensitive or challenging situations
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Willingness to undergo training in specific care needs or educational approaches as required

Your Responsibilities:

  • Tailor support to address the unique learning requirements of students with SEN.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Assist in maintaining classroom order, fostering a positive and stimulating learning atmosphere.
  • Establish effective communication with parents, teachers, and external professionals.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the academic and social progress of students with SEN.
  • Adapt teaching materials and resources to accommodate diverse learning needs.
