Due to the continued growth of our school, we are looking to recruit a passionate and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our wonderful team.

The Role:As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored support to students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). Your role will involve providing one-to-one and group support in both academic and social settings, assisting with personal care when necessary, and helping to create an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with varying levels of special educational needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of individual education plans (IEPs) and learning activities.
  • Support students with personal care and mobility needs when required.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their personal and academic growth.
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and other support staff to monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of behavioural strategies to support students' social and emotional well-being.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to the planning and review of student progress.

About You:We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Patient, compassionate, and adaptable in your approach to learning and behaviour.
  • Able to work well as part of a team, but also capable of using your initiative.
  • Ideally experienced in working with children or adults with special educational needs (though not essential).
  • Familiar with, or willing to learn about, a range of SEND provisions, including autism, speech and language needs, and learning disabilities.
  • Confident in using IT for learning purposes and communication.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience in a similar role in an SEN environment.
  • Training in relevant areas (e.g., ASD, Makaton, PECS, First Aid) is a plus.
