About the RoleEmpowering Learning is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Croydon. This full-time position is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN).

The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a Teaching Assistant and experience working with pupils with SEN. Your role will be instrumental in supporting students' learning, emotional well-being, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement and adapt lesson plans to meet individual learning needs.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for SEN pupils.
  • Use creative and engaging methods to support pupils with diverse needs, including ASD, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress to teachers and SENCOs.
  • Help manage challenging behaviours with patience, empathy, and consistency.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
  • Support pupils during breaks, on school trips, and in other extra-curricular activities as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, specifically working with SEN pupils (essential).
  • A strong understanding of various SEN conditions and strategies to support learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to managing challenging situations.
  • A valid DBS check or willingness to apply for one (essential).
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support (desirable).
