We are a thriving and inclusive Primary School in Oldham, dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for all students. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Support Assistant to join our team and help us support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Role:

As a SEND Support Assistant, you will be working closely with students who have a range of learning and developmental needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to children with SEND, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Supporting the implementation of personalized learning plans and helping students engage in their education.
  • Assisting teachers in planning and delivering lessons that accommodate the needs of SEND students.
  • Supporting the social and emotional development of students, ensuring their well-being and inclusion in school activities.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, other support staff, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for SEND students.
  • Monitoring and recording students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENDCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about SEND and supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Patient, empathetic, and understanding, with excellent communication skills.
  • Experienced in supporting children with a range of SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Emotional and Behavioral Needs (desirable).
  • Familiar with working with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and interventions.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and flexible, with a willingness to adapt to the needs of the students.
  • Hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) – desirable but not essential.
