SEND Teaching Assistant - VNA Education : Job Details

We are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support an amazing all through school in Newham. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference, helping students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) to engage with learning and school life in a way that works best for them.

About the Role:

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with autism.
• Work closely with teachers to adapt lessons and learning materials.
• Help students build confidence, independence, and social skills.
• Support emotional regulation and well-being.
• Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure the best possible support.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience working with children or young people with autism (school-based experience is ideal but not essential).
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A relevant qualification (Must have a good level of English & Maths).
• A genuine passion for inclusion and supporting neurodiverse students.

Must have’s

• Clean and current Enhanced DBS on the update service
• Ideally previous experience having worked as a Teaching Assistant
• Good communication skills
