The GDU supports HMT’s broader aim for an increased culture and focus on delivery and implementation of policy, as well as the Chancellor’s leadership of the growth mission.

To this end, the GDU will monitor progress against the Chancellor’s top growth priorities, identify blockages and intervene/escalate where barriers to delivery of the growth mission need to be unblocked. Sitting within the Strategy, Planning and Budget group in HMT, the GDU is a high-profile team at the centre of the government's growth agenda.
