Join our centralised purchasing department and contribute to the strategic purchasing services across all UK entities of our company. As a Senior Buyer, you will manage both direct and indirect spend categories to support core business activities, ensuring operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness while adhering to sustainability and legal standards.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Manage a strategic purchasing portfolio for the UK, aligning with KPIs and coordinating with procurement colleagues globally.
  • Conduct market and supplier analysis, define and approve purchasing strategies, and execute tender and benchmarking exercises.
  • Formulate and award contracts, regularly negotiate with suppliers, and review supplier performance.
  • Develop and present company-wide purchasing strategies, obtaining approval from key stakeholders.
  • Standardise specifications, standards, and processes across all locations to streamline operations.
  • Implement category strategy plans and contracts to achieve cost savings, serving as the escalation point for non-compliance issues.
  • Provide a professional and efficient purchasing service to the labs, ensuring adherence to purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing best practice purchasing skills to non-purchasing staff.
  • Drive the rationalization of the product and supplier base in conjunction with internal clients.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and post-merger integration activities for assigned acquisitions.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing master data and ensure sensitive information is securely retained.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a strategic purchasing role with a proven track record in commercial activity.
  • University Degree with strong proficiency in Maths and English.
  • CIPS qualifications are preferable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, collaborate, and influence effectively.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing complex spend categories.
  • High level of energy and a performance-driven mindset with excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Good knowledge of legal aspects of purchasing and experience in formulating contracts and SLAs.
  • Experience with purchasing systems like Coupa or SAP, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and PowerBi.
  • Full clean driving licence and car ownership.
