Senior Capital Equipping Manager

Location: London (2 days per week)

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Capital Equipping Manager to join our team within the public healthcare sector. This pivotal role is designed to lead the strategic management of capital equipment procurement, ensuring the successful delivery of major projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Oversee a flagship major project, ensuring the timely and efficient procurement of essential equipment. Provide expert project management and strategic procurement guidance.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive equipping strategies for capital equipment acquisitions. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure procurement processes meet the highest standards.
  • Budget Management: Manage and oversee equipping budgets, identifying opportunities for cost savings and ensuring financial efficiency. Develop reporting structures and present progress updates to relevant committees and boards.
  • Collaboration: Foster productive relationships with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers. Act as the dedicated point of contact for all capital equipping matters, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
  • Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to legal and organizational protocols. Provide specialist advice on equipment procurement and commissioning issues, utilizing appropriate frameworks and processes.
  • Innovation and Sustainability: Identify opportunities for innovation and sustainability in procurement practices. Develop and implement supplier solutions that achieve cost improvements while maintaining high-quality care standards.

Skills and Experience:

  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading and supporting complex projects. Ability to guide and mentor team members, fostering a culture of understanding and collaboration.
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to produce concise and appropriate reports for committees and boards.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to find solutions to challenges that arise during projects. Experience in fact-based dynamic decision-making.
  • Negotiation: Skilled in engaging in complex negotiations with senior staff and suppliers. Ability to network effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of UK Public Contract Regulations, EU Directives, and contract law. Familiarity with the Bribery Act and Data Protection/GDPR.
  • Project Management: Prince2 or other recognised project management qualification is desirable. Experience in capital procurement projects and related project management, especially for new builds.

Working Environment:

  • Office-Based: Primarily based in an office environment with the flexibility to work across multiple sites. Expected to be office-based at least 2 days a week.
  • Flexible Work: Encouraged to adopt a flexible work approach, balancing office presence with remote work.
