Job Description:

Join a rapidly growing property company at the forefront of the real estate market. The Senior Building Surveyor will work as part of a team, under the direction of the Building Surveying Directors, delivering core services primarily within the residential market.

This role will require a proactive and driven professional who is eager to apply their expertise across a variety of surveying disciplines while developing strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice on building defects across a wide range of property types and ages.
  • Prepare Preventative Planned Maintenance Reports, budget costs, and advise clients on planned maintenance matters.
  • Review preconstruction information packs and oversee the RAMS review process for project works.
  • Act as Project Manager/Contract Administrator on projects ranging from £50k to £3m+, working independently or leading a professional team.
  • Act as Principal Designer where required, preparing PCI packs, reviewing CPPs, and compiling H&S files.
  • Undertake Building Reinstatement Cost Assessments.
  • Conduct pre-acquisition surveys on commercial, retail, industrial, and residential properties.
  • Prepare Schedules of Dilapidations, negotiate claims, and advise Landlords and Tenants.
  • Provide Party Wall advice (desirable but not essential).
  • Monitor development and project works on behalf of Landlords, funders, or other stakeholders.
  • Assist in company initiatives, including business development, service improvements, CPDs, training, and mentoring of junior staff and APC candidates.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • MRICS qualified with a minimum of 2+ years PQE.
  • BSc in Building Surveying from a UK institution, RICS accredited (minimum 2:2 grade).
  • Strong knowledge of various forms of construction, building pathology, and relevant legislation.
  • Ability to maintain and build client relationships.
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and deadlines efficiently.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and remotely.
  • IT proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook (AutoCAD knowledge desirable).
  • Professional and customer-focused approach with a commitment to excellent service.
  • Must hold a valid UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to undertake DBS check and hold an in-date CSCS Card.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and additional training as required (fully funded by the company).
