£48,474 - £51,515 per annum (pay award pending)

Sellick Partnership is excited to be exclusively recruiting for a permanent Senior Childcare Lawyer to join the supportive and sociable Legal Team at Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Our client is seeking a qualified lawyer who has experience in Childcare Law from either private or local authority and is looking for the next step in their career.

The main duties of the successful Senior Childcare Lawyer will include:

  • Directly manage 3 Childcare Lawyers, 1 paralegal and 1 legal assistant.
  • Assisting with the allocation of work, personal development and 1:1s.
  • Support the lawyers in their training and development and deputise for the principal lawyer.
  • Dealing with more complex care matters around adoption, catastrophic injury, fatalities and international element.
  • Handling a caseload of mainly child protection cases, with the opportunity to undertake advocacy in the Family Court.
  • Advising Social Services clients in person and in writing, on all aspects of relevant legislation.
  • Prepare all legal documentation relevant to the caseload, and in particular prepare a wide variety of court documents, advise on social care law, and assist the Senior Social Care Lawyers and Principal Lawyer in relation to the most complex or specialised matters as and when required.
  • Carry out legal research.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join a Legal Team with a great reputation. Our client is looking for candidates who are a qualified solicitor or legal executive and must hold a current practising certificate.
