My client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clerk to work as a senior member of the board. This pivotal role involves managing the day to day business needs, assisting Members in policy formulation, decision-making, and business planning. The Clerk will also manage staff, assets, and facilities to ensure all activities, including major projects, are conducted in the most effective, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Manage the assets, staff, and procedures, and assist Members in policy formulation and business planning.
- Develop robust financial budgets in conjunction with the Finance Officer, regularly review expenditure against budgets, and report as required.
- Manage the decision-making process, advise and assist in making effective and legal decisions, and oversee the execution of all decisions.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for the safe custody of minutes, documents and records.
- Oversee the preparation of agendas, minutes, and reports.
- Coordinate the preparation and monitoring of Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, and other policies, ensuring they achieve desired results and suggesting modifications where appropriate.
- Manage the obligations for risk management and insurance, and ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies.
- Day-to-day management of the offices, ensuring effective management of all administrative, financial, and other systems.
- Represent the business at events and activities and act as the Clerk to the Charity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a publicly funded setting.
- Thorough understanding of the Government and other relevant statutory requirements.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple functions effectively.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work constructively with partners across various sectors to enhance service delivery and community assets.
