The Acorn Group are currently recruiting for an exciting new role in our Cyber Security Team as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer. Within this hands-on role you will have the opportunity to support the Head of infrastructure performing as a technical lead, whilst being able to influence the choice, implementation and management of technical solutions for the group.
Job Title: Senior CyberSecurity Engineer
Location: Liverpool City Centre / Formby; Hybrid working available with management discretion
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week,Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 DOE
What you will be doing:
- Perform a technical lead role within the Security Operations team
- Oversee and review all security implementations, configurations, and maintenance of technologies to SLA’s & KPIs
- Ensure all necessary technical security controls are in place and implemented to best practice standards
- In collaboration with the Information Security function and technical peers, deliver cost effective security solutions, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards
- Work with the Project and Technical teams for change projects, ensuring security is considered throughout
- Provide day-to-day cyber security guidance and support to relevant technical & business stakeholders
- Continually monitor, maintain and test our threat landscape and security posture
- Perform regular reviews of our current security solutions and processes, identifying opportunities for optimisation
- Identify and evaluate alternative vendors & technologies to improve security posture & business requirements
- Support and influence the penetration testing and vulnerability scanning strategy, identifying and, working with your technical peers, resolve security vulnerabilities in a timely manner, in accordance with our security guidelines.
- Support the business in maintaining and achieving several industry certifications, aligning where appropriate, including PCI/DSS, Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO27001
- Provide adequate governance support, maintaining a central security logging solution, analysing, mitigating, and reporting on any security threats identified as well as record on risk logs.
- Provide expertise & support in troubleshooting, resolution, mitigation and reporting of any security incidents and root cause analysis.
What we are looking for:
- Live and breathe security, with a high level of understanding of security technologies & standards
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar senior security focused role performing technical operational security disciplines in a similar sized organisation
- Comfortable with NIST, NCSC, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS and other frameworks, standards and controls and where they can be applied
- An understanding of security governance, risk and compliance and the support expectations
- Experience within the design and implementation of enterprise-grade security solutions; Anti-malware, IPS/IDS, Firewalls, SWG & SEG & SIEM
- Experience in managing TLS, SSL certificates, encryption, DKIM/SPF and DDoS.
- Good knowledge of Azure Cloud platform assets and security tools
- A good awareness of cybersecurity trends and hacking techniques
- Experience with Office 365 Security suites, and Endpoint Security
