Location:  Darlington

Salary: £41,630 - £44,500. This role typically attracts an ICT allowance of up to £6,000 for eligible individuals. Confirmation of eligibility will be provided to the successful applicant on appointment.

About the Role

We are looking for a collaborative Senior Data Analyst to join us in helping make a real improvement to the way HM Treasury operates; working with data to deliver tangible insight and benefit to our users. You will be responsible for defining and initiating a programme of work that gets the most out of our data holdings and ensures that the data we hold is put to more effective use.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead a comprehensive data landscaping exercise to identify and map our data holdings, agreeing the data landscape with stakeholders and delivering a mutually agreed data map and commonalities across data sources.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to drive value from the landscaping exercise, developing pipelines.
  • Provide data analysis expertise through:
  • Seeing opportunities to improve business practices and solve business problems using data tools and analysis.
  • Delivering better insight from our data by optimising data collection, creating and improving data visualisations and reports, and crafting narratives with data.
  • Using your business insight and communication skills to collaborate and build relationships, successfully turning complex information into impactful insight.
  • Reviewing and discussing options, providing realistic delivery estimates. Challenge and refine requirements so that proposed solutions are fit-for-purpose, robust implementations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to keep them informed of progress and potential issues as they arise.
  • Maintain and improve TBS’s data models, using data from different sources to produce visualisations to inform IT service improvements and future tech strategies.

    About you

    Our successful candidate will hold a recognised certification or qualification in statistics or data analysis. In addition, you’ll have an understanding of, and experience using, data modelling tools and techniques, and the ability to apply this knowledge when developing targeted solutions to deliver business benefit and make effective decisions. You’ll use this to define and initiate your data analytics work. Lastly, you’ll have strong communication and networking skills, able to build positive working relationships with a wide range of people.
