Senior Data Engineer - Searchability : Job Details

• Bristol or Cheltenham location - hybrid working model
• Must hold active security clearance - MoD DV or higher
• Up to £70k DoE + package
• Experience needed in SQL, Cloud Based Data Pipelines, Big Data Tools (Hadoop), Azure/AWS, Agile, Python

WHAT WILL THE SENIOR DATA ENGINEER BE DOING?

• Design and maintain data architectures and pipelines.
• Manage large, complex data sets and acquire new data sources.
• Optimise processes for data modelling, mining, and ETL.
• Improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
• Collaborate with teams to develop insights and address data infrastructure needs.
• Build tools for analytics and data science to support business goals.

THE SENIOR DATA ENGINEER SHOULD HAVE EXPERIENCE IN…

• Expertise in SQL, cloud-based data pipelines (Azure/AWS/GCP), and architectures.
• Experience with big data tools (Hadoop, Spark) and large data sets.
• Proficient in data pipeline management, Azure services, and stream-processing systems.
• Agile environment experience and problem-solving mindset.
• Programming knowledge in Python, Scala, C, C++, or Java is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and a desire to collaborate across teams.
• Consultancy background or experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
