We are delighted to be working with a central government organisation within Parliament on their new Senior Finance Business Partner in the Finance, Portfolio and Performance (FPP) team.
The FPP team is instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of Parliament. They lead on financial planning, performance analysis, and support the effective delivery of projects and programmes across Parliament. Their financial services, systems and reporting ensure that the House of Commons operates efficiently and effectively every day.
The FPP team are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Business Partnering Team. This team plays a key role in driving financial excellence and ensuring that finance and public value are at the core of decision-making. You will be responsible for fostering strong relationships within the organisation, influencing financial management, and enabling business leaders to make informed, data-driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic financial advice to senior stakeholders, including Directors and budget holders, ensuring financial implications are considered in decision-making.
- Lead on long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and business case development, ensuring value for money and effective resource allocation.
- Support and challenge investment appraisals, commercial activities, and complex financial queries, driving efficiency and financial effectiveness.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, influencing financial outcomes and ensuring robust financial controls.
- Lead and develop a team of finance professionals, ensuring they are motivated, supported, and equipped with the necessary skills.
- Ensure compliance with financial processes and controls, supporting the implementation of recommendations from a recent independent financial review.
Person Specification:
- A professional finance qualification (CCAB or equivalent) is essential.
- A confident communicator, comfortable with advising and challenging senior business leaders, including the ability to put complex financial issues into layman’s terms for non-specialist audiences.
- Ability to influence at all levels of the business hierarchy, using logical persuasion and consensus building within groups.
- Ability to lead individuals and teams, building and maintaining strong collaborative partnerships to achieve organisational goals, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Highly proficient in using and interpreting data and analytics to support analysis and decision making, identifying gaps in data and reporting and working with colleagues to develop additional reporting as required.
