As demand for our service continues to grow, we’re on the hunt for someone who can bring leadership and a positive attitude to the accounting services that we provide for clients who outsource their finance function to us. We are a Finance Director practice that additionally provides accounting and bookkeeping services to our clients. Whether working with clients, suppliers, regulatory authorities or our internal team, we’re after someone who will keep our clients' accounting records in excellent order and who communicates a desire to help with absolute integrity.

Green Caterpillar was started with the aim of providing finance director and finance function support to CEOs with an entrepreneurial spirit alongside social impact enterprises providing small to medium businesses with all the Finance support and services they need to succeed.

With our commitment to flexibility, this post is open to someone at either 0.8-1.0 FTE. Save for very occasional meetings with clients, the work is performed remotely. We offer flexible remote working, and we value the fact that our staff feel they are making a difference to the clients they support and the Green Caterpillar business. What outcomes are we after?

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for a variety of businesses
  • Oversight and coordination of in-house as well as client bookkeepers
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, taking responsibility for resolution of issues
  • Payroll, liaising with clients to obtain monthly update information.
  • Cashflow management and forecasting
  • Preparation of VAT returns for a variety of businesses
  • Manage and coordinate external auditors
  • Maintain positive client relationships for existing businesses
  • Supporting the business with onboarding clients
  • Supporting internal Finance Director’s with board reports and other reporting requirements.
  • Support with finance change management projects as required

What are the core competencies we need?

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Highly experienced with statutory account management, including VAT returns, monthly reporting, cashflow and balance reconciliations
  • Experience managing corporate tax and personal tax accounting and filing
  • Prior audit experience preferred
  • Experience working with Iris, Sage, QuickBooks and Xero preferred
  • Experience with charity accounts would be advantageous
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines: keeping multiple plates spinning at once
  • High attention to detail and the ability to double check work against a variety of data sources
  • Agile and able to effectively problem solve
  • Ability to bring personal encouragement and laughter to the practice
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to help with a wide range of tasks from all aspects of the business
  • A clear communicator, both written and spoken
  • Bring support to the development of the practice
