Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Premier Engineering : Job Details

ROLE- Lead Mechanical Design EngineerLOCATION- PortsmouthTERM- PermanentSALARY- £50,000 - £70,000, dependent on experience My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment for the Marine industry. They are looking for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth on a permanent basis.The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Be a self-starter, with strong leadership skills and the ability to own projects, work independently and implement your own ideas
• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
• Strong 3D CAD skills with Siemens NX ideally, or similar software
• PDM / PLM experience would be beneficial
• Ideally be experienced in Marine, Subsea, Aerospace, Automotive or related industries
• Knowledge of composites would also be beneficial
• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar

• Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Proficient using MS Office
• Excellent organisational skills and time management skills

• Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team

The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

• Using NX for concept design and producing technical drawings
• Implementing PDM software
• Being involved in hiring and growing the Design Engineering team
• Liaising with manufacturing providers
• Being involved in final assembly of products
• Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
• Updating 3D models and drawings
• Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
• Checking drawings for sign off
• Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
