Job Overview:Syntech Recruitment are currently representing one of Ireland's leading Mechanical Services businesses, we are on the lookout for a talented Mechanical QS. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in the industry and possess strong expertise in cost management, contract documentation, and project oversight. This role is integral to ensuring the successful delivery of multiple projects, from pre-tender stages through to completion, with a focus on mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    • Oversee and manage multiple mechanical projects simultaneously, ensuring all project goals are met on time and within budget.
    • Participate in the pre-tender process, contributing to project planning and preparation.
    • Collaborate with other project stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Cost Management:
    • Conduct detailed cost analysis and forecasting to manage project budgets effectively.
    • Monitor and control project expenditures, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
    • Implement cost-saving strategies where possible, without compromising on quality.
  • Cost Reporting:
    • Prepare regular financial reports, including cost plans, cash flow forecasts, and expenditure statements.
    • Provide accurate and timely cost advice to project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Contract Documentation:
    • Develop and manage all necessary contract documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
    • Assist in the preparation of tender documents, bills of quantities, and procurement schedules.
  • Subcontractor Procurement:
    • Manage the procurement process for subcontractors, ensuring that all agreements are fair and in line with project requirements.
    • Evaluate subcontractor bids, negotiate terms, and finalise contracts.
    • Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:
    • A third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, must be on mechanical systems.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in industry-standard IT tools and software (e.g., MS Excel, AutoCAD, CostX).
    • Excellent understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
