As part of our Reputation & Influence team, you'll have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the voice of the profession across critical policy areas, from governance and audit reform to macroeconomic trends and government decisions.
Role Overview
As Senior Policy Manager, you will work closely with the Managing Director and Director of Policy to manage and execute Reputation & Influence's strategy, ensuring that ICAEW continues to lead on key policy issues. You will be instrumental in providing high-quality analysis, advising on developments impacting chartered accountants and the broader business community, and delivering insightful and innovative policy outputs.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Insight: Provide expert analysis on key issues and developments impacting the profession ranging from the future of audit and governance reform, new government priorities and other matters as they arise.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders within ICAEW, government, and business to maximise the organisation's influence.
Policy Development: Lead workstreams to deliver policy outputs that contribute to the profession's advancement, including thought leadership, consultation responses, and public engagement.
Project Management: Oversee the development and delivery of high-quality content that shapes the policy agenda for ICAEW.
About You
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and strategic thinker with a passion for policy. You will have experience in a relevant environment-whether in government, a trade association, or the private sector-and possess the ability to communicate complex technical issues to a diverse range of audiences.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Education/Experience: A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in policy work, particularly within a government department, consultancy, or trade association.
Strategic Understanding: Strong grasp of current issues affecting the accountancy profession, including corporate governance reforms, ESG, and macroeconomic trends.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to distil complex issues into accessible, actionable insights.
Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deliver high-quality policy work on time.
Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with experience building networks to drive influence and innovation.
