Senior Portfolio Analyst
Location: Hybrid - open on location close to any Markerstudy office (Manchester, Peterborough, Sunderland, Kent, East Sussex, Portsmouth, Southport, Stoke and more)

The Senior Portfolio Analyst works in Strategic Change team reporting to the Portfolio Manager. The purpose of the role is to collate, analyse and report on portfolio KPIs, to maximise business value through optimisation and oversight of project investments aligned to business goals and strategies.
The Senior Portfolio Analyst maintains the single source of truth and continually analyses the performance of the portfolio to facilitate effective decision making.
This is a hybrid role, with a mixture between working from home and from one of our offices.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Maintain the ‘single version of the truth’ of project information (e.g. status, costs, plans, resources) and aggregating and presenting that information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support effective portfolio management through analysis and reporting of KPIs and making recommendations.
- Gathering independent evidence that the information from projects and programmes are valid and the portfolio is on track to achieve its objectives and benefits.
- Support the Portfolio Manager with and capacity planning and resource management to optimise the delivery of the portfolio.
- Support the continuous review and improvement of the Change framework to ensure management of projects and programmes within the portfolios are comprehensive and consistent across different initiatives.
- Identifying issues through monitoring of key controls, which may impact the successful delivery of the portfolios aims.
- Maintaining the portfolio level plans, including dependencies and resource requirements, which avoids bottlenecks and conflicting demands.
- Working with the Finance Business Partner to maintain a consolidated portfolio view of budgets and tracking actual and forecast costs.
- Reporting and monitoring of portfolio risks (threats and opportunities).
- Co-ordination of the key project controls (e.g. roadmap, change plan, critical path / dependency maps).
- Ensuring appropriate status reporting to ensure issues, risks, deviation from plan and decisions needed are proactively raised with the programme manager for action.
- Producing reports for governance forums and comms.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong experience in portfolio analysis
- Experience working with large volumes of data and data analysis
- Experienced in producing and presenting MI and BI
- Strong knowledge of change frameworks and the project lifecycle
- Portfolio planning and scheduling
- Resource management and capacity planning
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- PPM tooling
- MS Office – including advanced Excel
- Power BI development
- MS Project
