Senior Project Manager - Claims Journey Workstream Lead

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team on an urgent basis, working within the claims journey space.

This for our client who are a leading domestic insurance company. This will be on a long term contract, Inside IR35 and based working out of London, once a week onsite, turning to two days in the new year.

General Purpose of Role

  • To manage and ensure successful end-to-end delivery of large, complex technology projects or technology work streams of business projects to agreed, time, cost and quality following agreed standards for project management and governance.

Specific Purpose of Role

  • Take over CCv5 Decommissioning Programme Claims Journey Workstream project management responsibility from incumbent interim PM. Project is in flight with first Claims Journey migration scheduled in October followed by 6 further product deliveries through 24 and 25 with a target to complete by End Jul/Aug 2025.
  • Part of a wider programme to Decommission CCv5 and migrate all journeys and claims date to v9 and v10 by Sep 2025 to support the client cost saving targets. Other workstream is migrating historical open and closed claims and is therefore dependent on Claims Journeys being delivered to current schedule.
  • Workstream is being delivered by the client using both internal and supplier resource (resource augmentation) using both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Multiple sub workstream covering all aspects of the E2E claims journey - Claims FNOL and Management, Data Reporting and MI, Finance, Testing and business change
  • PM responsible for coordinating and unblocking all activity across the workstream - team includes Scrum Masters, Bas, Engineers, Testers. And ensuring all client governance and requirements are met to successfully delivery change int production.
  • Budget coordination of circa £7m over 2 years

Key Candidate requirement

  • Evidence hand on delivery of complex application development and systems integration projects (multiple) of a similar scale and complexity
  • Evidence of use and understanding of MSP, Confluence, Jira and Office tools especially PPT and XL
  • Evidence of similar scale budget and resource management, preferable utilising portfolio management software such as Planview
  • Experience of working in Financial Services, particularly General Insurance and claims
  • Experience of delivering Guidewire Projects, particularly Claimcenter
  • Experience of AWS infrastructure delivery and concepts useful
  • Experience of Finance Systems and Data concepts.

General PM Accountabilities (some of which are complete but candidate should have the experience in case change required)

  • End to end project management for design, build and release of the selected Technology solution
    • Development of the project scope and business objectives
    • Evaluation and selection of the project's delivery approach (e.g. agile, waterfall) depending on the solution, technology and the scale required.
    • Develop the business case, project documentation and project plans
    • Develops schedules and work packages for the Technology project delivery team
    • Plan and control projects, produce and update project plans, scope and budget, including detailed resource and activity plans in order to deliver the agreed projects to specification, within time and budget, and to the agreed level of quality.
    • Manage project finance and budgets (forecasts, actual vs planned etc).
  • Effectively manage risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and change requests. Ensure quality assurance mechanisms are in place so that products / deliverables adhere to agreed requirements. Ensures that Technology solution requirements are defined, delivered and monitored following agreed standards, architectures, and governance.
  • Supports benefits realisation and achievement of target business outcomes
  • Manage 3rd party suppliers and resources in line with agreed ways of working and contracts and SLA's
  • Establish and maintain proactive, comprehensive stakeholder management and stakeholder communications
  • Builds high performing, collaborative project teams. Co-ordinates and manages virtual teams.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery in line with standards, architectures, and governance.
