Job purpose:

We are seeking a Senior Quality Officer with a strong background in Further Education, to join our Quality team and contribute to our commitment to excellence in further and higher education. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the highest standards and surpassing the expectations set by Ofsted, our awarding bodies, and other regulators and professional bodies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Developing, implementing and reviewing the Quality Framework for Ofsted provision.
  • Supporting external quality assessments and reviews, including leading the Self-Assessment and Improvement Planning processes.
  • Conducting Quality Assurance Audits specifically related to Ofsted provision.
  • Contributing significantly to the review and enhancement of the School's quality assurance processes, including independent information gathering, report preparation, and participation in quality enhancement projects.
  • Managing the Visiting Speakers approval process, record keeping and monitoring and preparing an annual report
  • Day to day management of safeguarding and Prevent activity, including delivery of training to new safeguarding officers and supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Prevent Lead.
  • Developing, delivering and organising a range of relevant training and staff development events, meetings or conferences, involving internal and external contacts.
  • Maintaining up-to-date and properly archived documentation related to Quality Assurance.
  • Coordinating and supporting a range of internal and external meetings and events, providing efficient committee support.
  • Act as Secretary to the Further Education Committee: drafting the agenda, horizon scanning, commissioning reports and reviews and working with the Chair to ensure effective governance of FE activity.
  • Regularly attend all LSST sites to support and monitor the delivery of FE courses, undertake reviews and deliver training

You are also expected to:

  • Keep up to date with developments of the job area.
  • Participate in training activities both in School and externally to maintain a sound record of Continuing Professional Development
  • Adhere to general standards of conduct embodied in School policies and procedures (e.g. health and safety, equality and diversity, etc.);
  • Work flexibly and efficiently, maintain the highest professional standards and promote and implement the policies of the School.
  • Travel to other sites of the School.

It is expected that holiday entitlement should be taken at times convenient to the curriculum offer.

Job requirements - Essential

Qualifications

  • Degree or relevant professional qualification at graduate level or equivalent experience.

Further Education Experience and Practice:

  • Proven experience in an FE setting such as a college, independent training provider, FE within a Higher Education setting, or similar.
  • Experience of, or qualified internal verifier or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ofsted standards
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Education Inspection Framework and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of accreditation/validation systems, practices, and monitoring
  • Understanding of and experience in working with Safeguarding
  • Understanding of and experience of working with the Prevent Duty

Professional Skills:

  • Able to develop and deliver effective training and staff development sessions
  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing; and good attention to detail
  • Able and willing to use software programs including Microsoft Office Teams, SharePoint, Outlook
  • A sound understanding of GDPR requirements and the ability to deal sensitively with confidential issues

Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage and prioritise a complex and varied workload, and work with minimum supervision
  • Able to interact with confidence with senior colleagues to promote and secure the quality assurance of the FE provision
  • Flexible and committed to team working; able to facilitate cross-team working practices

Job requirements - desirable

  • Experience as an EV
  • Direct recent experience of Ofsted inspection
  • Experience of committees and governance, minute writing and acting as Secretary to a committee
