Senior Support WorkerUp to £27,033.24 per annumIlkeston, DerbyshireFull time - 39 hours per weekMeridian Business Support are working with an established social care client who are looking to recruit a Senior Support worker based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.Independent residential children’s homes and schools for young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated learning difficulties; all staff contribute to the provision of a supportive, caring, learning environment. Our homes are in Heanor and Ilkeston, Derbyshire.Purpose of JobThe post holder will actively promote the rights of young people as individuals and provide them with quality care in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organisation.To assist in the management of provision of a safe and homely environment to help young people achieve their potential by strengthening areas of weakness and developing areas of strength.The Senior Support Worker will be expected to achieve positive outcomes for all young people by leading by example, always providing professionalism, and ensuring high levels of commitment, good childcare practice and safeguarding to young people.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPhysical/Emotional/Social Needs of Young PeopleAssist in the development of new techniques and approaches to the childcare provisionEncourage development of individual interests and attitudesTo promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each young personEstablish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the young people that will promote their sense of securityProvide firm, consistent, and fair boundaries in respect of their behaviour and employ appropriate and agreed sanctionsPromote the development of a healthy lifestyle for Young PeopleAssist Young People in the development and sustaining of positive social networks with adults and other peer groupsTo organize and shift lead in group activities and group holidaysTo lead in the provision/preparation of meals in the homeTo assist and support Young People through the process of leaving careEncourage Young People to develop their full educational and vocational attainmentObserve and assess the behaviour of Young PeopleTo engage in and supervise day to day care practices, creating an accepting environment conducive to the positive personal development of each Young PersonBenefits includePlanned career development, an ongoing comprehensive training package, free meals & onsite parking, a ‘Thank-you’ reward system offering high-street vouchers, a sleep-in allowance in addition to the annual salary, and staff wellbeing support, including an onsite mental health first aider.
