Job Description :

Our client, a social care company with Children’s Homes for Children and Young People with EBD and associated learning disabilities throughout the Northwest, are currently looking to recruit an experienced, compassionate and flexible Residential Senior Therapeutic Child Care Practitioner to ensure that the care provided is of the highest quality in an environment which supports and encourages children to reach their full potential.

Reporting to the Registered Manager, duties to include:

  • Assisting the Registered and Deputy Managers in the overall running of the home and effectively supervise staff providing care for children and young people in a residential setting in accordance with legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the home operates within the National Quality Care Standards and Regulations for Children’s Homes and to develop a service that offers outstanding results for children and young people.
  • Assist in delivering a child-centred and stimulating environment in which children can receive high-quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care and support, acting as a positive adult role model.
  • Support children to ensure their health, medica and educational needs are met.
  • Promote, evidence and promote the children’s identity, including religion, culture, ethnicity, sexuality and linguistic needs, offering other forms of communication where possible.
  • Ensure that documentation, record keeping, and communication are maintained and that effective partnership working across the statutory, voluntary, and independent sectors is maintained.
  • Respond to the Registered Manager to ensure appropriate action is taken following internal and external inspections, audits, complaints, and investigations.
  • Responsibility for professional development and participate in supervision, performance review development and training events as agreed.
  • Ensure that the needs of diverse groups of children and adults are identified and addressed.
  • Ensure that practice is carried out by the requirements of all relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and the policies and procedures of Lancashire’s Safeguarding Children’s Board.
  • Helping to ensure that the home operates within the National Quality Care Standards and Regulations for Children’s Homes and to develop a service that offers outstanding results for children and young people.
  • Encourage appropriate behaviour and manage, with compassion, challenging behaviour both within and outside the home.
  • Undertake personal care and moving and handling where required

As a successful candidate you have previous experience as a Children's Home Support Worker or Children's Home Senior Support Worker with a caring and empathic nature and ideally currently studying NVQ Level 3 or 4 but not essential . Excellent supervisory skills and a passion for caring for and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people. You must also be able to pass full Ofsted DBS Checks.

Salary:

£36,000 - £40,000 +Bonus

Shift patten:

10 x 24-hour shifts (includes sleep in) per month on a rolling rota pattern, 2 shifts one week, 3 shifts the next week.

Training period until early 2025 will be Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and holidays will be given for Xmas and New Year

Salary : 35000 - 40000
