Summary

We're looking for a Senior Volunteering & Community Officer to join the team at Kingston Lacy. If you have experience in volunteer management and working with community groups then we'd like to hear from you.

What it's like to work here

The outstanding art collection is one of the main attractions to this beautiful Italian-inspired mansion. As one of the National Trust’s ‘Discovery Houses’, the team have exciting times ahead as they embark on major conservation projects to preserve this 8,500 estate and its rare collection of artefacts. A Japanese garden, Kitchen Garden, cafe and shop as well as the House and Parkland are so among the key attractions at Kingston Lacy.

What you'll be doing

You will be managing the development and delivery of Kingston Lacy's plan for volunteering and communities alongside the property leadership team. Managing and embedding change among our staff and volunteer teams to ensure our work and our visitor and team experiences are the best they can be for everyone.

You will also be working with our local community, widening and deepening our relationships with existing and new audiences and partners to be relevant to them and create opportunities for us to work with others.

You will manage our large team of House volunteers, currently 350, with the support of our 2 Volunteering and Community Assistants who you are the line manager for.

You will also increase the confidence and capability of Volunteer Managers at Kingston Lacy whilst creating a collective, flexible and inclusive environment for existing & future volunteers, communities and partners.

Who we're looking for
  • Understanding and good practice of volunteer management.
  • Understanding of good practice in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and partnership working.
  • Practical and successful experience of developing and implementing new products and approaches to volunteers.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to coach and support those managing, supervising and working alongside volunteers and community partners.
  • Strong communication skills.
