Service Manager

£40,000 - £50,000 DOE, Burgess Hill, Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5pm, Discretionary bonus, Pension, Holiday

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Service Manager to join our client, a specialist fire and security systems business in Burgess Hill. Working as part of the Senior Management Team, the Service Manager role is responsible for managing the service departments to effectively undertake all service and maintenance work secured by the company ensuring that all service and small works contracts are undertaken and completed in a timely manner.

• Staff Management -3x direct reports and oversight of a team of 20
  • Training, development and supervision of team members withing the service department and supporting the training and management of apprentices
  • Developing Personal Development plans through 121s
• Identify small works opportunities and organise pricing and quotations to secure orders from clients
• Initiate and maintain effective planning system to ensure proper control of all key aspects of service management
• Organise and be responsible for all necessary paperwork and reports ensuring quality systems are maintained
• Trigger timely issuing of client invoicing
• Contribute ideas to improvements for efficiency, operational performance and business direction
• Communicate regular updates both internally and to clients - conducting occasional client site visits

Requirements

We would expect the successful Service Manager to have experience in people management and the management of engineers. Ideally, you'll have experience in an Asset Management company, or another service sector that conducts planned and reactive maintenance. Some exposure to the Fire and Security sectors would be an advantage, as would experience servicing Local Authority contracts. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information to non-technical audiences. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment due to your excellent organisational skills. The Service Manager role could suit someone who has worked as a Maintenance Manager, Contracts Manager, Repair Manager.
