Looking for a hands-on role with a leading company in intelligent transport solutions? SRL Traffic Systems is hiring a proactive Service Operative to support our busy depot in Cumbernauld.

What You'll Do as a Service Operative:As a Service Operative, you will support the depot with daily tasks, carrying out inspections and repairs of our hire fleet at customer locations and sites. You will ensure our trailers are legally compliant through regular inspections, servicing, and repairs, both when hired by customers and at our depots. You will also assist our tech centre with fleet upgrades as required.
A company van, fuel card, mobile phone, and PPE will be provided. Hours of work per week will be 42.5. Very little overtime is expected. Shift pattern: 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Travel will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out full inspections, servicing, and repairs of trailers and hire fleet equipment.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, following health and safety protocols.
- Identify and report potential hazards, supporting a safety-first culture.
- Complete all required inspection paperwork, identifying fair wear and tear and customer damage.
- Ensure all equipment leaving the depot is fully checked and meets quality standards.
- Maintain van stock levels, work tools, and PPE, ensuring compliance at all times.
- Assist with fleet upgrades and modifications at our tech centre.
- Work professionally with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- No experience required—full training provided.
- Full UK driving licence (maximum of six points).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service both internally and externally.
- A safety-conscious approach, prioritising the well-being of yourself and others.
- Organised, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Basic electrical knowledge.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- A basic knowledge of traffic light equipment.
- CSCS card holder.
- Competent in driving company vans up to 3.5 tonnes.
- Competent in towing trailers with plant equipment.
