Ferno has an opportunity for a Service Technicianto join our friendly team based within a 30-mile radius of Enfield. Joining us on a full time, permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary, dependent upon experience, plus excellent benefits.
This role is ideal for a mechanical technician who can repair equipment, vehicles, or machines. It would also be an advantage if you have electrical fault-finding experience. Training will be provided with ongoing support.

About the Service Technician role:
To provide routine and ad-hoc servicing and repair of mechanical products and carry out checks and replacements of electrical components, ensuring safety standards are maintained
Key Result Areas:
Service and Repair Work
- Travel to customers to repair and service Ferno and other manufacturers’ products
- Carry out checks and replacements of electrical components, in line with qualification requirements
- Ensure tools and spare parts are kept safely and securely at all times
- Ensure adequate supply of basic spare parts is maintained on the Service van
- Work safely, ensuring Health and Safety and COSHH regulations are adhered to
- Advise customers where a product cannot be successfully repaired to a safe standard
- Undertake customer training to enable them to quality to service products internally
- Carry out service and repair in accordance with manufacturer recommendations
- Ensure that Head of Service / Sales & Marketing Manager authorises all customers’ requests for work
- Contact Head of Service / Sales & Marketing Manager daily
Administration
- Keep a detailed log of work for each job completed
- Maintain a log of travelling time and distance
- Complete expenses reports on a weekly basis
- Complete a service report after each job completed
- Keep an accurate record of van stock at all times
- Report any accidents in the vans and ensure approval is gained for any repair work required
- Report any customer complaints or quality issues encountered to Head of Service immediately on becoming aware of them, whether minor or significant
Service Development
- Follow journey planning as directed by Head of Service, using initiative to suggest improvements
- Work with the Head of Service to identify opportunities for enhancing the service provided
- Support Head of Service with effective diary management, ensuring effective communication about progress on jobs and ad-hoc callouts
- Undertake other duties, such as audits and site surveys

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Ability to work away from home where required to cover other areas of the UK
- Experience of repairing and servicing mechanical products
- Experience of using practical and mechanical skills
- Ability to read and interpret blown view drawings
- Demonstrate the ability to identify improvements to processes and services
- Demonstrate a positive and professional approach to customers and colleagues at all times
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, including ability to work to tight deadlines and to act on own initiative
