Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Small Works Estimator to join our passionate and driven team.

The Small Works Estimator will join the contract delivery team within OCS and will be responsible for reviewing client requests, issuing tenders and obtaining quotes from the relevant suppliers / subcontractors and producing an estimate which is accurate, competitive and compliant.

The successful candidate will collaborate with wider contract management in operations, capital projects and commercial workstreams which will seamlessly deliver a combination of Tier 1 to 3 minor and major project activities.

We are seeking an ambitious, driven and enthusiastic individual with experience in fast-paced technical & project engineering environments. The role is office based.

***The prospective candidate will obtain Non-Police Personnel Vetting Standards (NPPV) Level 2 in order to be considered for this role***

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting a review of each new client request and returning TQ’s.
  • Sending out enquiries for design fees.
  • Reviewing design fee proposal and issuing further TQ’s to design consultant and/or client.
  • Prepare design fee proposal and present to the relevant Manager / Director for approval to submit.
  • Liaising with design consultant and client through design.
  • Sending out enquiries for materials and specialist sub-contractors.
  • Reviewing sub-contract tender returns and issuing TQ’s to client/sub-contractors.
  • Preparing works proposal and presenting to the relevant Manager / Director for approval to submit.
  • Submitting the Tender to Client with all tender deliverables.
  • Contributing to risk assessment and ensuring all risks are included within the tender.
  • Leading or supporting VE exercises and target costs.
  • Ensuring all risks are recorded and accounted for within the tender.
  • Contributing to the submission document and Contract Documentation.
  • Maintenance of reliable tendering databases; involving collation of all necessary information from individual tenders.
  • Management of commercial risk through adherence to OCS commercial procedures and policies.
  • Ensuring Smartsheet’s are accurate and up to date.
  • Liaising with design consultant and projects team where applicable to ensure a compliant tender.
  • Compiling a handover file for successful tenders and presenting to the relevant operational team.

About You:

  • Prior tender and pricing experience in the Building Services sector, with focus on tender review and analysis is essential.
  • Experience in reading and understanding tender drawings and bill of quantities.
  • Strong PC Skills in particular MS Excel, Word and Power-Point.
  • Professional or Trade related vocational qualification.
  • Capable of working in a team environment supporting colleagues and providing advice on all commercial matters when necessary.
  • Understanding customer’s requirements and always conducting business in a professional manner
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good listening skills and capable of interpreting directions
  • Good PC skills, including advanced Excel
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good Personal and professional presentation skills
  • Good influencing skills
  • Full driving licence
  • Knowledge of NEC4 TSC framework beneficial but not necessary
  • Security Clearance to NPPV/2 will be a mandatory requirement of this role
  • Full driving licence
