Social Work Practice Improvement Lead - Peterborough City Council : Job Details

Peterborough City Council Children’s Services has an exiting opportunity for a Social Work Practice Improvement Lead to support the children’s services improvement programme.Working alongside colleagues across Peterborough City Council, you will lead the social work practice improvement agenda supporting the Head of Inspection, Improvement and Innovation and the Service Director for Practice in the delivery of improvement and transformation priorities across Children and Young People’s Services.This newly developed role will drive forward practice improvements in children’s services and provide key support to areas of improvement identified by Ofsted, and as part of the Family Valued and Family Safeguarding programmes.What will you be doing?

• Working in partnership with other City Council teams to support the service wide improvement with the delivery of bespoke learning and development events and activities; recruitment events and quality assurance activities
• Providing project management for new initiatives/programmes and the refresh of Family Safeguarding in Peterborough: supporting leads; monitoring progress against the implementation plans; generating reports.
• Supporting the implementation of change programmes by working with Improvement Partners to co-ordinate and manage training and development for staff and partners and acting as a champion of Relational and Restorative practice.
• Developing and delivering a children’s services training and development strategy including robust process for monitoring, evaluation and reporting on impact.
• Developing a good 'practice’ resource bank to include maintaining up to date toolkits and resource packs for practitioners and managers.

Who are we looking for?We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and creative individual who can lead and motivate others and drive forward practice improvements. You should be highly organised and able to balance conflicting priorities, working independently and comfortable managing your own workload.

• You will have experience of successful project management, including project governance, managing stakeholders and monitoring and reporting on progress.
• You should be experienced delivering training and/or workshops to a range of audiences and be able to lead these independently.
• You should be an excellent communicator in writing and verbally and able to adapt to relevant audiences, including senior managers, Councillors and partners.
• You should have a good understanding of children’s services and of relevant policy, guidance and practice frameworks.
