The growing workload within MBDA UK has created a great opportunity within the Embedded Software team in Bristol! You will be developing embedded, real-time software.

Salary: up to £64,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically 4 to 5 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

We supply a full range of hard real time software solutions for the next generation of missile and defence solutions!

This is a hands-on role and requires the continued development and integration of missile subsystem software products and evolutions for future products. You will be developing software targeting C, C++ and/or Ada languages. This software will be integrated with other software from several sources, an OS, firmware and hardware.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Experience in the development of embedded software with C, C++ and/or Ada.  It would be desirable for you to have knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems.

  • Experience in model-based development - either using UML tools such as Rhapsody or Matlab/Simulink.

  • An awareness of deploying software on real-time Operating Systems and ARM-based processing platforms. You will have an appreciation of firmware and electronics design.

  • Can do' and flexible approach – you'll enjoy solving technical problems that sometimes extend beyond the bounds of "software"

  • Excellent analytical and design ability, including review and critical analysis

  • The ability to communicate effect great ively with multiple collaborators, including Systems Engineering, Electronics and Electrical, and Test and Validation

The following would be helpful, but not crucial:

  • Knowledge of modern software development practices. Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55 & DO178B/C and restricted coding standards such as MISRA / SPARK would be advantageous.
