Job Description :

Snowflake Special School is seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join our dedicated team from September 2025. This role involves coordinating subject teaching across the school; including leading phonics teaching, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.

The SEN Teacher will collaborate with colleagues, manage curriculum delivery and assessment, and contribute to the overall improvement of the school. The SEN Teacher role ensure that subject teaching provides the highest quality of teaching, learning and assessment possible, taking the underpinning science and methodology of the ABA/VB approach. Promoting the ethos aims and values of the school The SEN Teacher will ensure that their ethos reflects the agreed aims, values, principles of learning and thereby promote the general progress and wellbeing of all members of the school community.

The SEN Teacher will use, develop and share knowledge and understanding of Applied Behavioural Analysis and Verbal Behaviour approaches and methodology within all teaching opportunities and ensure that personal knowledge of ABA/VB is kept up to date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Leadership
  • Develop, implement, and review the curriculum ensuring it meets the needs of all pupils
  • Ensure that the curriculum is inclusive, engaging, and aligned with national Safe Understanding Patient Enthusiastic Respectful Job Description Qualified Teacher 8/22 standards and best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students with special educational needs.
  • Utilize innovative teaching methods and resources to enhance learning experiences.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and setting achievable targets.
  • Mentor and support teaching staff within the subject area, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Organise and lead subject-specific training sessions and workshops.
  • Encourage collaboration and sharing of best practices among staff members.
  • Foster strong relationships with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on student progress and involving them in the learning process.
  • Engage with the wider community to enhance learning opportunities and support for pupils.
  • Contribute to the school’s strategic planning and self-evaluation processes.
  • Lead and participate in school-wide initiatives and projects aimed at improving educational outcomes.
  • Stay informed about current educational research and trends, integrating new insights into practice.
  • Develop individualised learning plans for pupils, ensuring their specific needs are met.
  • Work closely with other professionals, such as therapists and educational psychologists, to support student development.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and well-being.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Extensive teaching experience, preferably in a special education setting.
  • Proven track record of leadership and curriculum development.
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Specialization in a specific subject area (e.g., Mathematics, Science, English).
  • Experience with curriculum design and implementation for special needs.
  • Training in behaviour management
