Education/QualificationsEssential
- Degree/ graduate diploma or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy
- Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as a speech and language therapist
- Certificated graduate courses or equivalent in-house training in clinical specialty areas
- Membership of special interest group
Desirable
- Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
ExperienceEssential
- High level of understanding of relevant clinical guidelines
- Broad range of clinical experience at a Band 6 level including within the relevant clinical specialty
- Experience of working in an acute, hospital based setting, including working within an MDT (and outpatients as appropriate)
- Teaching/training of staff or students
- Presentations to a range of groups
- Supervision of more junior staff, assistants and/students
- Active participation in an audit or project work
- Computer literate, to include working knowledge of Microsoft office
- Evidence of CPD
- Advanced knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of complex patients in the critical care and acute setting including those with tracheostomies and on ventilators
Desirable
- Experience at band 7 within the clinical specialty

Critical care and tracheostomy. You will be required to cover the ITU and tracheostomy caseload i. This includes patients requiring invasive mechanical ventilation. You will need to have competencies in tracheostomy and critical care and be able to provide evidence of these.
