Job Title:Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6/7)Band: 6/7Location:LondonReports to:Clinical Lead / Clinic ManagerJob Summary:IMC are seeking an experienced and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist in London. The successful candidate will provide evidence-based assessment and intervention for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties, addressing a range of conditions in both pediatric and adult populations. As a senior member of the team, you will contribute to service development and support junior staff, ensuring the highest standards of care and client satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:Clinical ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, and communication difficulties, as well as swallowing (dysphagia) evaluations when necessary.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, setting goals and monitoring progress in collaboration with patients and their families.Manage a varied caseload, including patients with developmental delays, acquired neurological disorders, voice disorders, and other complex needs.Provide direct therapy using a range of approaches, including individual and group sessions, tailored to each patient's specific goals.Document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to clinic policies and professional standards.Patient and Family EducationEducate patients, families, and caregivers on communication techniques, strategies, and home practice exercises to support therapy goals.Provide guidance on preventing and managing swallowing difficulties and educating about safe swallowing practices where appropriate.Offer training and resources to empower families in supporting and reinforcing therapy at home.Team Leadership and MentorshipProvide clinical supervision, support, and mentorship to junior SLTs and therapy assistants, encouraging their professional growth and development.Lead case discussions, contribute to training sessions, and facilitate knowledge-sharing within the therapy team.Act as a senior clinician and role model, setting high standards for clinical excellence and professional conduct.Service Development and Quality ImprovementParticipate in the development and enhancement of SLT services within the clinic, implementing evidence-based practices and protocols.Engage in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and research to support service innovation and patient satisfaction.Collaborate with clinic leadership to identify areas for growth and contribute to service expansion or new program initiatives.Communication and CollaborationWork closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to deliver comprehensive and coordinated care.Foster a supportive and professional relationship with patients, families, and team members, ensuring continuity of care and clear communication.Attend team meetings, case conferences, and clinic-wide events, representing the SLT team and advocating for patient needs.Essential Criteria:Qualifications: Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, with HCPC registration in the UK.Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience (for Band 6) or 5+ years (for Band 7) in SLT, with a focus on a mixed caseload and experience in a variety of clinical settings.Clinical Skills: Proficiency in assessment and intervention for speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
