- Annual Salary: £36,571 - £44,145 plus up to £3,000 market supplement

- Job details: 1 day Merton, 1 day Kingston and 2 days in Carshalton – these can be flexible and discussed with the candidate.
Join our innovative therapy department at South Thames College Group, where we champion a neurodiversity affirming, strength-based approach. We are seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to support students aged 16 – 25 years with a range of learning and communication difficulties. This role is crucial in enabling students to achieve their academic, social, and employment potential.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct comprehensive Speech and Language therapy assessments and deliver person-centred interventions to help learners access and develop functional skills across the curriculum.
- Work closely with teaching teams to manage and support students’ communication, social, and behavioural needs in various settings.
- Enable staff to deliver the curriculum at appropriate language and communication levels through support plans, staff training, and direct coaching.
- Collaborate with learners’ families, carers, and specialist community health and social care teams to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
- Develop and implement transition plans for students entering and leaving the college, ensuring these transitions are effective and supportive.
- Assess and refer learners to specialist community health services as needed and support the implementation of these services’ recommendations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and registration with the Health Professions Council.
- Experience in handling communication, social, and interaction needs, particularly in an educational setting.
- Proficient in using various communication aids and techniques, such as Makaton and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
- Ability to work collaboratively with educational staff, healthcare professionals, and families.
- Committed to continuous professional development and adhering to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists’ Code of Ethics.
