The CompanyOur client is a technology led business based just outside of Newcastle city centre. They are looking to recruit an experienced SQL DBA to strengthen their capabilities in this area and offer an excellent opportunity to join a well established team supporting a global software solution.
The RoleAs a Database Administrator you will be a part of the team responsible for platform build and support for IT systems.
- You will work as part of a wider team including infrastructure and development capabilities.
- You will work with other members of the Infrastructure Team, IT Support Teams, Software Delivery and Test teams to research, determine the scope and complexity of issues and to identify steps to resolve them
- You will build relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
- Identify areas where standards can be developed and processes improved, and work with your team to implement those improvements
The PersonCandidates are expected to be experienced DBAs, comfortable working in a production environment and using SQL Server R2 through to 2017 ideally with some exposure to Microsoft Azure and public cloud environments. You will also need;
- Experience of supporting different DBMSs (SQL or NoSQL) ideally including SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Cassandra
- Disaster Recovery including MS Clustering, Backup & Restore methodologies.
- Data Warehouse exposure (Primarily Support ideally Design and Development)
- Performance Tuning and Optimization using native and bespoke tools
- Good understanding of DBMS security and best practices
- Good understanding of ETL and ELT concepts
This is an excellent role with a well established business based just outside of Newcastle city centre. There is a requirement to be onsite 1 day per week and for candidates to have an ongoing right to work in the UK, ILR is acceptable or British citizenship. The role will pay up to £57,000 and come with a generous benefits package including 10% bonus
