The CompanyWe are currently recruiting for a SQL Database Administrator for our client based at their head office in Sunderland. The business has invested significantly in technology over recent years and this is set to continue as they look to develop new applications and business intelligence tools. The RoleThis is an exciting and rewarding role within a forward-thinking team who are always looking at innovative ways of delivering fantastic solutions within the business and evolving the sector at large. This role requires expertise in database management systems (design, implementation, maintenance, and performance optimisation), data modelling, and awareness of integration technologies to ensure the seamless flow of data across disparate systems. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, security and scalability of the database infrastructure. You'll have both production and development DBA duties.Working alongside another DBA and with the Head of Solutions you'll be involved in defining the database strategy, looking at options for on-prem, virtual or cloud based solutions that meet the requirements of the technology roadmap. The role is offered on a hybrid working basis with an expectation of being in the office (Sunderland) 3 days per week. The PersonIdeally candidates will have• Experience with Azure and SQL Server administration and programming of on-premises and cloud database solutions. Experience of similar technologies desirable (e.g., MySQL, Progress) .• Strong understanding and application of data modelling concepts, normalisation techniques, and database design principles.• Experience with ETL tools and processes (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS, Azure Data Factory).• Experience with version control systems (GitHub, Bitbucket).• Knowledge of project management methodology, tools (e.g. Jira Software Cloud/Enterprise and Bitbucket) and use of applications development methodology (e.g.Prince2, Agile, Scrum).• Desirable experience and awareness of integration technologies and best practice application (e.g. APIs, web services).• Knowledge of data governance frameworks, security controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.You will need to be able to get into the office in Sunderland 3 days per week and therefore would need to live in the North East. The role will come with salary of up to £50,000 and has an excellent benefits package including generous pension, 31 days holiday and a 4 1/2 day working week.
